World’s Okayest Mom

I am the best mom, and I am the worst mom.

I am amazing, and I am far from exceptional.

I am strong, and I am a total wuss.

I am kind, and I am pure evil.

I am funny, and I am without a trace of humor.

I am your best friend, and I am your worst nightmare.

I know everything, and I know absolutely nothing.

I am not perfect. I am perfectly imperfect.

I am the World’s Okayest Mom.

In a world where too many strive for the very perfection that is only perfectly impossible, okay is sometimes, well…okay.

I’m not gonna lie. There are definitely times where my sweet, adorable boys drive me to drinking.

And if they were of legal age to drink, they’d probably be tempted to do the same after a long, hard day.

But since that isn’t an option for them, they demonstrate their frustration by peeing off the top of the staircase.

(Just kidding! I’m not raising a bunch of barn animals. Geez!)

In all seriousness, my boys are happy, compassionate, well-adjusted kids.

And that, my friends, is a fairly accurate indication that I must at least be doing something right.

Which is why I took the liberty of awarding myself the title of The World’s Okayest Mom.

After all, I’ve got the shirt to prove it.

And if the shirt fits…

~Happy Mother’s Day to all the marvelous moms out there! And while we’re on the subject of moms, a big shout out to my own incredible mom. Some of you already know her as Tink the Belle from Playing By My Own Rules. If you haven’t yet had the pleasure of meeting her, please stop by and check out her inspirational blog. She’s simply amazing. ~

Seriously, I've got a shirt to prove I'm The World's Okayest Mom. How cool is that?

  1. Hey
Thank you for taking the time to step on over to Love Relaished Ink. It’s wonderful to have your whimsical soul as a new companion on my long and winding road.
From what I have seen of your blog so far, I’ve no doubt you are already finding writing a totally engaging and personally fulfilling experience. I hope the pleasurable company of words will always flow and follow you as you flow following the flow of your flowing path flowing into the wide blue yonder, and flow onwards towards the adventures that follow the flow beyond that…
Best wishes. Take care always in all ways for always.
    Namaste

  2. Love this photo of you!! YOU are a bit more than an ok mom, that’s my sense. You have such a caring heart with lightness and joy (plus you have a sense of adventure. 🙂 )

I didn’t know that your mom blogs too. How cool is that? Thanks for being here. You’re a great reminder for me to SMILE and have a good weekend. Love and Happy Mother’s Day!!! Debbie
ps – the peeing off the stairs comment is hilarious.

  3. Well you have few mates above … I am quite sure you are better then okay! Okay is mediocre … had NO idea you were Tink’s daughter, what a fab pair!
Your poor sons have a lot to live up to being your descendants … but I am sure you are raising them to respect women, share house duties and have a straight aim … in the loo basin! lol

    • I agree! While there’s nothing wrong with striving to do our best, sometimes we just need to accept that “perfection” is an unnecessary and unrealistic goal. Put in your best effort, but don’t drive yourself to insanity in pursuit of the unattainable. 😊

  4. Ha! I was just about to comment then noticed this was a rerun, so I checked out the original post. Sure enough, there was the exact comment I planned on making, almost word for word….

“Wait a minute… you’re not implying that there’s something wrong with peeing from the stop of the staircase, are you? Not that I ever did that….. but from the upstairs window………….” – evilsquirrel13 (5/6/16)

So much for me maturing over the previous year!

    • Haha! Now that’s priceless. 😄

Bedsides, I assume you’re just speaking from past experience, rather than implying this is your current preferred method of going about your daily business. But hey, if it makes you happy, go for it! 😝

  5. You should be PROUD of the title, Okayest MOM! At work, I used to call myself Dr. Anonymous. People used to ask me why? I told them, titles often got in the way of performance. I was more interested in focusing on the job then the “title.” Dr. Anonymous became a compromise. I now had a “title” that didn’t interfere with my focus! 😀
