Bigly Bestest Big Day

@thebiglybestestdoggie: Today’s the day I get my leg fixed. Surgery is this morning, and I’m kind of scared. But Momma and Daddy will take good care of me while I recover, and those crazy kids are here all the time now, so I know they’ll help out too. I suppose it would be nice to not have to hop around on three legs anymore…

Please wish me lots of luck!

~Hey friends, hope you are doing well during these challenging times. Wishing you all good health and better days ahead. 💜~

  1. Aww Jett, I’d hoped you wouldn’t need the surgery but you’ll be in good hands. You’re a brave boy.
I’m sorry I’m a little late commenting but how did it go? Really hoping it went as smoothly as possible, sending love xxxx

    • Thank you, Caz ❤ We really, really wanted to avoid surgery… unfortunately, it ended up being a complete ACL tear that just wouldn’t heal on its own. The procedure went well, but those first couple of days were a challenge. But each day has held improvement… and yesterday evening, he finally smiled again for the first time since his surgery, so that was truly wonderful progress 😊❤

      • Aww poor little guy. It’s awful when dogs are poorly or have surgery, they can’t tell you how they feel & you can’t explain what’s going on to them. So glad he’s cracked a little smile – onwards and upwards from here hopefully, and he’s in the best hands with you there for cuddles. I bet he’ll be loving all the attention as star of the show 😉
        Feel better soon, Jett xx

    • Thanks, Joan! Augh, the dreadful cone… we struggled beyond belief trying to get it on Jett. I seriously thought we might become his next meal before he willingly had any part of that injustice. We ended up having to go back to the animal hospital to get a more flexible fabric ‘cone’. Fortunately, that is working well enough for the time being. 🙂

Did Tailor have a torn ACL too?

      • No, he had a congenital defect, a floating kneecap, that eventually caused pain and a limp. He was only 4 when he had the surgery, spunky enough to crack his “indestructible” cone 3 times before his follow-up. Thank God for duck tape. 🙂

    • Thanks, Kathy. I agree; this was definitely not ideal timing. With the way things are right now, we couldn’t even go inside and be with him before or after the procedure. 😫 But there is a silver lining in this, too… the kids are home all the time right now, so he’s got constant companionship and lots of love and attention as he works toward recovery 😊💜
